Setting Up Your Academy
How do I get started as a teacher?
Register for a free account at academy-heroes.com/teacher/register. You'll get a 30-day free trial at the Archmage tier — no credit card required. After registration, you'll receive a class code to share with your students.
How do students join my class?
Share your class code with your students. They go to academy-heroes.com/student/register, enter the code, and create their hero. You'll see them appear on your dashboard once they've joined.
How long does setup take?
Most teachers are up and running in under 30 minutes. Creating your first Quest Hub, setting up guilds (companies), and customizing your world can all be done before your next class period.
Is there a teacher guide or tutorial?
Yes — The Grandmaster's Guide is available as a digital PDF and covers everything from world-building to running your first boss battle. You can also contact us at support@academy-heroes.com for a personal onboarding session.
What devices do students need?
Academy of Heroes runs in any modern web browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. It works on laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, and desktops. No app download required.
Boss Battles & Gameplay
Running Battles & Quests
How do I start a Boss Battle?
From your teacher dashboard, go to Live Battle and create a new battle. Add your questions, set the boss HP and name, and share the battle link with your students. Students join from their dashboard and the battle begins when you start it.
Can students use powers during battles?
Yes — students unlock class powers as they level up (levels 1–20). During a battle, they can activate their powers from the student battle screen. Each power has MP costs and usage limits per battle.
What happens if a student answers incorrectly?
The boss deals damage back to the party. The exact damage is based on the question's damage value you set. Students with enough HP survive; if a student's HP reaches 0, they are "fallen" for that round.
Can I run a battle without the quest system?
Yes — standalone battles are fully supported. You don't need to set up a Quest Hub first. Simply create a battle from your dashboard and run it independently.
How do Patrols work?
Patrols are self-paced solo encounters — perfect for homework or independent practice. You create a question bank and assign the patrol. Students complete it on their own time and earn XP and Gold upon completion.
What is a Duel?
Duels are real-time head-to-head trivia matches between two students. From the Training Grounds, students can challenge each other using your question banks. You can also let the AI Oracle generate questions automatically.

Student Help
My student forgot their password. What do I do?
As a teacher, you can reset any student's password from your dashboard. Navigate to their profile and select the password reset option. The student can then log in with their new credentials.
Why is the class code not working?
Class codes are case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as provided, including any hyphens. You can verify the correct code from your teacher dashboard. If problems persist, contact support.
Can a student change their hero class?
No — a hero's class (Guardian, Mage, or Healer) is permanent once chosen. To walk a different path, a student would need to start a new hero, which begins at level 1 with fresh progress.
How do students earn XP and Gold?
Students earn XP and Gold by completing quests, winning boss battles, finishing patrols, winning duels, and completing missions. Teachers can also manually award XP and Gold from the dashboard.
What happens when a student levels up?
Leveling up unlocks new avatar images, new class powers, and cosmetic rewards. At certain levels, students also unlock access to The Armory for additional appearance customization.
Can a student be in multiple classes?
Currently each student account is linked to one teacher's class. If you have multiple class periods, each period should have its own set of student accounts.

How do I award or deduct XP and Gold manually?
From your main dashboard, click on any student's profile. You'll find options to add or remove XP and Gold directly. You can also bulk-award to the entire class or a specific company.
What are Companies?
Companies are groups within your class — similar to guilds or teams. You can divide students into companies with custom names, logos, and colors, then filter your dashboard view by company and run company-vs-company activities.
How does the Vault (Rewards Store) work?
You create a custom shop where students spend their Gold on rewards you define — homework passes, extra credit, snack passes, or cosmetic items. You set the prices and inventory. Students browse and purchase from their dashboard.
What is the AI Oracle?
The AI Oracle is a built-in AI tool that generates quest storylines, battle questions, patrol encounters, and mission content tailored to your subject and grade level. It can also create unique AI portraits for students who earn them.
How do Missions work?
Missions are longer-form assignments — essays, projects, or creative work. You create the mission with instructions and a reward. Students submit through the app, and you review, grade, and award XP and Gold upon completion.
Can I use Academy of Heroes with multiple class periods?
Yes — you can create multiple Quest Hubs and Companies to organize different class periods within a single teacher account. Contact support if you need help structuring multiple periods.

How does the free trial work?
Every new teacher account receives a 30-day free trial at the Archmage tier — the highest subscription level. No credit card is required to start. At the end of the trial, you choose a paid plan to continue or your account becomes inactive.
What happens when my trial ends?
You'll receive an email reminder before your trial ends. If you haven't selected a paid plan, your account will be paused — your data is preserved. You can reactivate at any time by choosing a subscription from your billing page.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel at any time from your billing page at academy-heroes.com/teacher/billing. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fees.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe, as well as PayPal. Payment details are handled securely by our payment processors — we never store your card information.
Can I get a refund?
Billing errors are reviewed within 14 days of contact. For other refund requests, contact support@academy-heroes.com and we'll review your situation on a case-by-case basis.
